12/2/2013 5 months old nicenessToday was her 5 months old birthday. Nina seems to have grown up a lot since this past Thanksgiving. She interacted with many loving people and behaved nicely. She now eats solid food like a champion. Today, she ate 1/2 avocado mashed and thinned with breast milk, then finally finished her bottle without any tear. She took a nap in a stroller while I went out for grocery shopping,. Then she took another nap which lasted over an hour in her crib. Overall the fussiness has subsided remarkably. As for physical, she's on the verge of crawling, able to scoop forward, but not being able to coordinate her arms and legs yet. She's long been a pro at rolling over onto her back. But now she is getting a hang of rolling back onto her stomach as well. She can lean her upper body, reach, grub the object and put it to her mouth. She appears to hold us back when we hold her.
11/30/2013 The first ECDuring the Thanksgiving holiday, Nina was constipated. Possibly due to the change of environment, busy outing, or the introduction of the new solid food; banana. Soon after we got home, I smelled her poo, so I asked Ron to change her diaper. Sure enough, it was a poo. He told me to come over. She was still going. I figured this is the perfect opportunity to introduce EC (elimination communication) to Nina, since we caught the action. I brought over the brand new Baby Bjorn potty seat, and let her sit while I made a sound of grunting, like nGoooh. (This will be the cue sound next time). As I kept making the sound, her poo kept coming out. It was the longest log I've ever seen from her!
Later the day, I saw her looking like she's wanting to go again. I quickly took her diaper off and put her on the potty, and made the cue sound. Amazingly, she went for another log!!! I was so thrilled and motivated to try again, especially after feeling hesitant about starting EC. It was a successful start. 11/18/2013 4 months 18 daysSomebody is becoming more mobile than ever. From tummy-time position, she can now bend her knees, lift her butt up, straighten her knees, and tries to go forward. Kind of like a worm's movement. She still doesn't know what to do with her arms. After an attempt of crawling, she landed on her side for the first time. This may be the beginning of rolling back over.
